We are currently working hard to prepare for this year’s flu clinics which will commence on 1st October. These will be a little different this year due to social distancing and extra precautions in place to make sure they are in the safest possible conditions for all our patients and staff.
The clinics will not be drop-in; they will be pre-booked appointments only and be held just outside the surgery premises in pop-up gazebos, weather permitting, to aid with social distancing. We are working on a Plan B should the weather not be kind!
We plan to hold clinics every weekday from 1st October at various times to ensure all patients eligible for a flu vaccination will be able to attend. We will also be holding at least two Saturday sessions.
We will be risk assessing and begin contacting patients shortly to book their vaccination in order of priority– it is really important that we prioritise our patients in the highest risk groups first.
Anyone eligible for a flu vaccine and housebound will be added to a home visit list in order to have their vaccination. Please let us know if this applies to you by ringing reception on 01744 882606 or send a “Contact the Practice” message to us via our website.
As far as we know, the extended flu vaccination programme mentioned this year for those aged 50-64 who do not normally qualify for an NHS flu vaccine will depend on the availability of vaccines once the higher risk groups have been immunised; further announcements awaited.
Please keep an eye on our website in the coming weeks for more information and when to book your flu vaccination appointment.
